MS J Survey

Google Forms

Today we have been learning about making Google Forms.  Your task is to embed your practice form into our blog and then submit responses to at least two other Digikid forms.  Good luck!

My Simpsons Avatar

Today we made a Simpsons avatar for ourselves!  I chose this one because I always wish that I had straight hair!  I also wear a lot of black clothes.  I love making avatars because I can make myself look anyway I like.

Learning about Pages

WALT use the Instant Alpha tool to remove the background from photos.

We will know we have been successful when:
  • there are no shadows in the photo
  • have just one colour in the background
  • there is contrast between the background and the foreground
  • we are very patient - it takes a lot of concentration and time!

WALT use the Mask with Shape tool to change the shape of photos.

We will know we have been successful when:
  • move the photo rather than the shape
  • use a shape that won't cut off important details from the photo
  • you can still add details such as shadow, frames, reflection

Bubbl.us

The Digikids session today was split into two parts.

We started by talking about our Digikids Treaty - how we want to learn when we are at Digikids. We used bubbl.us to mindmap our ideas. The login for bubbl.us is on our Digikids homepage on KnowledgeNET. This tool will be good to use back in our classes when we are brainstorming topics for writing, inquiry etc. We can take screenshots of our brainstorms/mindmaps to put on a blog, in our e-Portfolios, Keynote, Pages etc. Or even just print them out to put on the class wall display.

The second part of our session focused on using Pages. We created a page about ourselves using the Page Layout option. Ms J asked us to incorporate text boxes, shapes, fonts, colours, photos, photo frames, reflections, shadows etc. It is much easier if we use the Inspector to access all these tools. We also talked about the importance of only using creative commons images in our work if we need to get some from the internet. Today we saved our worked into the Digikids folder on the server.

Next week we are going to be looking at some more advanced tools in Pages.

Thank you Digikids!

Thanks to my wonderful Digikids. I am so impressed with the different techniques you have used in your Kid Pix pictures and also how you recognise that this fabulous application is not just for juniors! Best of all - thanks to all the Digikids who have made such positive and detailed comments on our blog - give yourselves 1000 house points each!

Homework Due Friday 20 May 2011

KidPix

We are learning to:

  • Use all the basic tools in KidPix
  • Import photos into KidPix
  • Save KidPix files as .jpg
  • Upload .jpg files to a blog

By Friday 20 May you should have completed a high quality picture of your choice in KidPix that demonstrates your knowledge of all the basic drawing tools we have discussed. You may also choose to import a photo. Once complete you need to upload this to our Digikids blog, write a brief comment about what you have done and add your initials to the tags.

Remember the rules - no stickers, stamps, animations, sounds or movies.

Good luck!

Digikids Homework due 1 April 2011

We are learning to:
  • use Go Animate to create animations
  • understand the ways animation can be used to have fun while learning

We will know we have been successful when:
  • we have uploaded our animation to our blog
  • we have shared our animation with others at EPS
You will need to complete an animation that demonstrates you know how to use Go Animate. Your animation needs to persuade teachers and/or students that Go Animate is fun and can help kids learn about any topic eg reading, inquiry, homework.

Please come and see me if you have any problems completing this for homework.

Digikids Homework

Hope all you had fun at Digikids today - I know I did! Please remember your homework:
  1. Have a play with Go Animate - if you have forgotten the login details go to KnowledgeNET - My Zone - Specialist Groups - Digikids.
  2. Write a new post of our Digikids blog to tell us what you think about GoAnimate, any ideas you have on how it could be used and maybe things you still want to know? The login details are the same as your login for KnowledgeNET.
Remember I'm happy for you to work on Digikids stuff on the library computers at break times if you come and check with me first.

Our next meeting is Friday 18 March at 9:30am in the Library. If you have any problems or questions just come and see me or send an email. :)
